Discussions and Views on proposed Public Bicycle System for George Town

See the latest government announcements, vigorous discussions and media coverage of the proposed 2015 public bicycle project for George Town on our supporting Facebook site at https://www.facebook.com/SustainablePenang.

Based on our knowledge and experience of the traffic and street system of George Town, we can only hope that full attention will be given not only to the provision of safe infrastructure to support all cycling in the city but also to call an open discussion of the plans, the figures, the assumptions, and especially the results of independent expert reviews of the proposal at the different key stages.

In this context it also needs to  be taken into account that there is a flourishing long established cycle rental business for tourists and others. It is our view that they need to be taken into careful consideration in planning and executing any public bicycle scheme.
